Bruce Springsteen has denied Forbes' recent estimation of his billionaire status, stating "I'm not a billionaire... they got that real wrong." This comes after Forbes' July 2024 report that valued his career achievements at $1.1 billion.
Forbes' calculation included:
- $500 million catalog sale to Sony in 2021
- Sales from 21 studio albums, 7 live albums, and 5 EPs (140+ million albums globally)
- 236 Broadway performances
- 2023 world tour revenue ($380 million from 1.6 million tickets)
Springsteen explains his wealth distribution:
- Significant compensation for E Street Band members
- Investment in properties
- Personal spending on "superfluous things"
"I pay them a tremendous amount of money," Springsteen said about his band, emphasizing his focus on fair compensation and artistic integrity over wealth accumulation. He maintains that getting "the art right, the music right, and the band right" remains his priority.
A biopic about Springsteen's life, starring Jeremy Allen White, is scheduled for release in 2025.
