Federal authorities have launched an interagency investigation into Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), nicknamed "Diddy jail" since Sean "Diddy" Combs' detainment on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

The investigation, led by the Bureau of Prisons and Justice Department's Inspector General's Office, aims to address serious security concerns and violent incidents at the facility, which houses 1,200 inmates including Diddy. Recent events include two inmate deaths and an attack involving a makeshift ice pick, leading to federal murder charges against nine inmates in five separate cases.

While the Bureau of Prisons states there is "no active threat," the operation seeks to improve safety conditions for both staff and inmates. U.S. Attorney Breon Peace emphasizes that "Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails."

MDC Brooklyn has faced ongoing criticism for:
